Tv Shows I Am Currently Obsessed About – January 2018
January has ended! Isn’t it bizarre just how fast time passes? Another month has passed and we are already well in our way through February. Today, I am going to share with you the tv shows that has sucked my attention and grip onto it so hard that I have no choice but to binge-watch it all in one sitting.
1. Stranger Things
Simple Summary :
Joyce Byers, who lives in a small Indiana town in 1983 – inspired by a time when tales of science fiction captivated audiences. When Joyce’s 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl.
I am pretty sure I am already very late into this party, but I can’t help it. I don’t even know what reason I had to postpone watching this show until now, but one thing I can tell you, once I start watching, I can’t stop. The story line immediately pulls me in and one episode turns into two, three and eventually I ended up finishing an entire season in one sitting.
The casting for this show is excellent. These group of kids definitely works very well together with all their jokes, sarcasm and unwavering loyalty towards one another, it very quickly and quite effortlessly captures the audiences’ hearts. The storyline is unpredictable and fresh, which ended up always making you question and wanting for more.
“Stranger Things” is definitely one of those shows that you just can’t miss out on. Even for someone like me who usually do not enjoy thriller shows finds this show highly entertaining and addicting. So especially for those of you who are suspense and mystery junkie, “Stranger Things” is definitely a show that you should not miss out on.
Simple Summary :
This haunting series follows the thrilling yet terrifying journeys of Sam and Dean Winchester, two brothers who face an increasingly sinister landscape as they hunt monsters. After losing their mother to a supernatural force, the brothers were raised by their father as soldiers who track mysterious and demonic creatures. Violent memories and relationship-threatening secrets add additional burdens on Sam and Dean as they investigate all things that go bump in the night. As old tricks and tools are rendered useless and friends betray them, the brothers must rely on each other as they encounter new enemies.
I have been seeing this show all over the Internet, but for some reason I never feel the desire to pick this one up. However with the new-year-new-me saying, I decided that seeing that this show has been so booming for so many years, I might as well give it a try. And it did not disappoint.
Even with me currently still on season one, I can see what the fuss about Dean is all about. That man honestly can get away with almost anything with just his smile and charisma alone. And Sam – even though he is the younger one out of the two – he seems to be the one who is calmer, more grounded and collected. His personality balances Dean’s impulsive and reckless character very well and I really enjoy seeing them banter and work together.
As far as the plot goes, it is interesting and engaging however I do feel like it does get repetitive, at least in season one. With them going after different demons or supernatural beings in every episode and ended up winning and managing to catch or kill said supernatural beings, it does eventually gets very predictable. However, I do see that towards the end of season one they have been trying to mix things up. And they did seem to be trying to take things into a different direction. So I am crossing my fingers for season two and so forth to only keep getting better and better.
Simple Summary :
Gifted criminal profiler Will Graham has a unique way of thinking that allows him to empathize with anyone, including psychopaths. But while helping the FBI pursue a particularly complicated serial killer, he decides he could use some help and enlists the brilliant psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter. The two form a partnership and it seems that there is no villain they can’t catch together, but Lecter harbors a dark secret. His own brilliant mind has gone to the dark side and he has more in common with the criminals they hunt than Will could possibly imagine.
Oh my god. I am just one breath short from being totally bewitched by this show. I have had my eyes on “Hannibal” for as long as I can remember. But for some reason I never gathered enough guts to start it. I have heard from a lot of friends and have read from reviewers online that there are some very gruesome and terrifying scenes in this show. Which is one of the reasons why I have been constantly pushing it back for years.
But a few days ago I decided to give my fear the middle finger and plunge into this show before I can have any second thoughts. Boy oh boy did I love every single second of it. I did not expect the show to be this good. Admittedly, yes, there are definitely some scenes that makes me cringe and make me close my eyes because I can’t stand it. But the more I watch it, the more I get used to it. And the more I get invested in the show, I find myself becoming more vested in looking for the motive behind every crime scene. And the way Will Graham’s mind work and his relationship development with Hannibal.
Granted, this might not be the show for you if you are squeamish and do not enjoy gore and blood. However, if you are looking to try on something new, unusual and captivating, definitely check out “Hannibal”. The story line is always unpredictable in the best possible way. I can’t praise the show enough to have casted Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal Lecter. It truly feels as if the role was made just for him with how easy and naturally he plays as Hannibal.
